FreeWe hope to partner with the Local Authority and other Coordinators across the region to create opportunities for the families and children most in need as we are aware that most children that attend holiday clubs and camps are usually from a more privileged background, so it’s within our culture and morals to want to extend this opportunity. We are also looking at ways how we can offer more SEN camps for those with disabilities.
Our camps follow a structure of starting the day between 8.30 am & 9 am and finishing between 4 pm & 5.30 pm. Staff will be there from 8 am and will stay until the last child goes home and the venue is clean and tidy. Throughout the day, the staff will follow a timetable that involves a variety of activities planned specifically for that venue and the children involved. We run surveys and thoroughly research the area to find out what the families want to see and what the children want to be a part of. The children will have the freedom of choice at camp and will not be forced to take part if they don’t wish to.
Our activities will provide children with the opportunity to develop new skills or knowledge, consolidate existing skills and knowledge, try out new experiences and have fun and socialise. We will offer a variety of physical sports activities, creative activities (including drama, arts and crafts and music sessions), outdoor activities (bushcraft, nature walks), mindfulness, healthy eating and free play each day on camp.
We will implement educational activities, health and wellbeing workshops, and the option of learning a variety of educational topics but most importantly, the programmes will include activities to benefit the overall physical and mental wellbeing of the child by immersing them in nature, active movement and inspiring activities on a daily basis.
Food will be provided on-site through local catering teams either if the school agrees to open their facilities or whether this is outsourced by a local café. We often provide packed lunches at our camps and will ensure no child ever goes hungry whilst in our care. We have tuck shops and petty cash should there ever be any last-minute issues but we have the booking system in place for families to place orders before they arrive on-site and for this to be planned in advance.
